November
Once again the month is about gone without entering anything in my blog. I feel like C stated in her blog, that I have so much to say, that I just keep putting off putting in an entry because I never have time enough to do it justice. Maybe some day...
This month has been a big month for doing thing with family. That makes it a GREAT month. The first week of the month I went to a movie with C--just mom and daughter time. Then a nephew got married and we were able to go to his wedding. It turns out that it was in the same building where I had my wedding reception, but it has a different name now. It was La Citadel when I was married.
A great family picture of those at the wedding:
The second week of November I flew to Nashville so that I could drive with A back to Utah. She got a job in Rexburg and needed to bring everything back this way. We drove for about 12 to 14 hours each day. I did not want her to try and do it by herself. Things went smoothly and the weather was good until about 30 miles outside of Evanston. It was dark, it had started snowing and snow was collecting enough to make things slick. There were what seemed like thousands of huge trucks traveling that highway and they were all slowing down because of the snow. Then the "service engine soon" light in the car came on, and A said she felt like she was losing power when trying to go up a hill now. Slick roads at night are bad enough, but when you don't know if the car will make it, really causes stress. However, we did make it safely to Evanston. Then I started shaking, from the inside out. At first I thought it was because it was cold, but I decided I had been more nervous than I thought I was. We decided to stay the night in Evanston and find out what was wrong with the car before we journeyed on. By morning it had stopped snowing, we had breakfast at McDonald's (yes, if you can believe it, A actually ate at McD's) and then we went to Auto Zone where they have a machine that can hook up to the car's computer and tell you why the "service engine soon" light was on. It turns out that the engine had miss-fired. The guy helping us thought it was probably water in the gas or something like that. We put some additive into the gas tank and it worked fine the rest of the way home. Wow, it was good to get home. A and I had a good time talking and catching up on each others lives.
Then the third week of November, Ken and I flew again to Nashville to visit Nathan and his family and to see their adopted son sealed to them in the Nashville Temple. I'll point out some of the highlights of the trip.
The flight went smoothly, although my suitcase got to take a free trip to San Antonio without us. The airline brought it to the house the next day.
Ken, Nathan, Nathaniel and I went to a Civil War battle site in Murfreesboro called Stones River. It was one of the bloodiest battles of the war.
The night before the sealing someone from the bishopric came to Nathan and Timber's house and they gave Nathaniel a name and blessing.
Of course the highlight was going to the temple to see Nathaniel sealed to our family for time and eternity. Its hard to describe the feeling of peace that accompanies knowing that we will be with our families forever.
Fortunately our trip home was relatively uneventful and both we, and our luggage, got home safely with not side trips. We brought home 2 suitcases full of stuff for A, that she couldn't fit in her car when we drove home.
This week is Thanksgiving and we will be going to my sister's house to join them for the day. We always love visiting with family.
