IBLCE Exam

I had to take the IBLCE Exam today. Talk about stressful! It is the exam that one has to take be be IBCLC certified (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). You have to take it at least every 10 years to maintain your IBCLC certification. (At the 5 year mark you can renew your IBCLC status with continuing education hours). I don't like taking this type of exam, because it basically can cover absolutely any aspect of Lactation from anatomy and physiology, psychology, drug interactions, how to breastfeed, how to teach breastfeeding, and anything else you can think of that relates to lactation.
Well, I took it, and so that is over for now. It will be embarrassing if I don't pass the exam, considering I have been practicing as an IBCLC for 10 years now. I'll find out in a month or 2 if I passed.

Painting

I've been doing some painting lately. Actually painting the house is something I really hate to do. The hardest part is probably getting the room ready to paint it. Ken has been doing the majority of getting the rooms ready. He has been packing up all of the stuff in the room. Today he helped wash down the walls in our room. Getting all of the stuff off the walls in our room was quite a chore. We had a LOT of stuff. Of course a lot of it was Ken's knives. It is a toss up whether the walls in Cari's room or in our room had the most holes in them. It is really a bother having to patch a million holes in order to paint. (Just a approximation on the number of holes of course). The walls have needed to be painted for a long time now. I certainly don't understand people who paint their house every year. Deciding what color to paint is a big decision for me because I know that I won't be doing it again for a LONG time.

Fireworks

Ken and I went to see the fireworks at WSU yesterday. There was a fireside at the Dee Event Center first. Brother Merrill Bateman spoke. He talked about some of the Browning pioneers that settled in this area. Then Ken and I went down on WSU Campus and waited for the concert and the fireworks. We sat on the lawn area in front of the Browning Arts center. It didn't seem too crowded and the weather was perfect! There were some clouds in the western sky, so there was no direct sunlight at that time. The day before had been extremely hot and I was afraid it would be hot and uncomfortable, but there was a slight breeze and it was beautiful. At 9 p.m. the symphony music was broadcast over a loud speaker. It was beautiful. Then at 10 p.m. the fireworks started and were set off to the music. We were close enough that the fireworks looked huge and beautiful, but not so close as to have ashes landing on us. The drive home was even a very tolerable event. We went on highway 89 to hwy 84 and then to Riverdale Rd. I even got to finish reading a book I had started while we were waiting for the fireworks. It was really a perfect night.

Pioneer Days Sunrise Service

I am going to be singing in a Sunrise Service at the SL Tabernacle on Temple Square. There will be members of a number of choirs in the Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties singing in it. They are hoping for something like 325 people to be singing in it. There are 6 songs as well as a program celebrating the "Days of 47". Our first practice was today. There were only about 5 people from the Wasatch Master Chorale there. There will only be about 3 practices before we sing. It really could be quite awesome. The songs we will be singing are: How lovely is Thy Dwelling Place, Zions Walls, Saints Bound for Heaven, From Sea to Shining Sea, You'll Never Walk Alone, and Come, Come Ye Saints. It was impressive how much we accomplished in one night.
